Privacy Policy
This policy covers the website at drainunblockerleeds.co.uk. It explains what personal data the site collects, why it collects it and what you can do about it. We keep it short and plain, because you should not need a lawyer to read it.
1. What the site collects
When you send a request, the form asks for the details below. You choose what to type, while some fields are optional.
- Your name and phone number
- Your postcode and, if you add it, your address
- The service you want and any job details you write
The site also records the page you sent the request from. It stores your IP address and browser details with the request, because they help block spam. If you press Accept on the cookie banner, Google Analytics also collects visit statistics.
2. Why the site uses your data
We use your details to read your request and reply to it. We may also pass it to a drainage engineer who can talk through the job and give you a quote. We do this because you asked for help, and the request would not work without it.
We use the IP address and browser details to keep the form safe from abuse, which is a legitimate interest of the site. We use analytics data only if you accept it. You can withdraw that consent at any time, however, so the choice stays yours.
3. Who can see your data
Your request goes to the site by email and into a database. A drainage engineer or company who may quote for your job can also see it, since that is the point of the form. The site passes your request to them so they can respond to it.
Some providers help the site run. For example, Cloudflare hosts the site and the database. Google receives analytics data if you accept cookies, and Google Maps loads the embedded map on contact and area pages. Some of these providers may process data outside the UK, so please read their own privacy policies.
4. How long we keep it
We keep a request for as long as we need it to deal with your enquiry and to keep a record of it. After that, we aim to delete it or remove your details. If you want it gone sooner, ask us and we will look into it, since you have a right to ask.
5. Payments
This site does not take payments, so it does not collect your card details. Any payment for drain work is between you and the engineer. Please do not type card numbers in the notes box, because it is not a secure payment form.
6. Security
The site sends your request over an encrypted HTTPS connection. However, no system is perfectly secure, so keep the details you share to what the job needs. Do not add anything you would not want a stranger to read.
7. Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have rights over your personal data. You can ask us for the following.
- A copy of the data we hold about you
- A correction if something is wrong
- Deletion of your data, or a limit on how we use it
- A stop to any use that you object to
You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk. We would like the chance to fix things first, so please email us before you do.
8. Cookies
The site sets analytics cookies only after you press Accept on the cookie banner. If you press Reject, it sets no analytics cookies, because the site works without them. Our Cookie Policy lists the cookies and explains how to change your choice.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the site changes. The date at the top shows the latest version, so check back now and then.
10. Contact us
For any privacy question, use our online contact form. We will reply as soon as we can.
